Here is our #Tuesdaytune! Check it out! It goes well with our Bible verse of the week! This song is called "Impossible" by Building 429. This is a great song to dance to! "Just a reminder that Miss Corrie doesn't run much..."
LOL. I am typing this post right after morning recess. Because of field trips, we had a smaller group outside so I was able to play football with the 4th graders. Glad I gave them a reminder I don't run much or else I would be even more sore! LOL - I am so glad our students have a lot of energy to play and learn! We are SO blessed! This week the 4k extended care students are learning all about angels. This Thursday, September 29th is the feast day of the Archangels and October 2nd is traditionally the feast day of the Guardian Angels. (This year October 2nd is a Sunday so the Sunday celebration trumps the feast day.) We are recognizing that angels are messengers of God and that they are here to help us every day! We are memorizing St. Gabriel's message to Blessed Mother Mary: "Nothing is impossible with God." The after school care students were busy with homework and watercolor paints yesterday. I am so glad that they were helpful in cleaning up water spills in the hallway! They have a great desire to serve and take care of their belongings! Third graders had their first test yesterday. They will be sent home this week to be signed. We are finishing up a special Archangel project and then on Thursday we will have a special celebration for the Archangels' Feast Day! Just like the angels are all messengers of God, we are called to be messengers of God too! We are learning every day how to pray, serve God, and love one another through our words and actions. If you have any "glory stories" or stories of your children talking about the faith outside of school or how your children have inspired you, feel free to share them with us. Those stories are meant to be shared and cherished so we can give more glory to God for His beautiful work! Have a great rest of your week! Feel free to contact me at anytime if you have questions or concerns. We are here for YOU! You are beautiful and loved! -Miss Corrie #TuesdayswithMissCorrie It has been a busy week so far. I hope everyone is doing well! This week in Extended 4k our verse of the week is "Let your light shine" from Matthew 5:16. Parents - I dare you to ask your child what the verse of the week is. They are getting really good at memorizing it! They are also really good at learning the song, "Every Move I Make" (see youtube video above). Ask to see the dance and actions! They love it!
Third grade religion class will be having their first test (chapter one) next week Monday! They already created notecards to help study their key terms and we will be reviewing a lot in the next couple days. Parents of 3rd grade, watch for an email soon with more details about this test and our upcoming novena prayer. Today we learned about Jesus' public ministry and even did a little reenactment! Thank you after school care parents for following directions to write initials and the time each day. It is much appreciated to keep things organized and on track. Some parents have been asking about homework time in after school care. Immediately after snack, students are asked to finish homework right away. If we go outside, they work on the homework outside. When we are inside, I am giving the older students the option to sit at a different table or in the hallway if it is easier to focus while the others without homework are playing. Feel free to contact me if there are any issues we need to resolve. I hope to see you at Back to School Night on Thursday. I know you will especially enjoy seeing all the beautiful art work in the hallways. Students are so excited to show you everything! Have a wonderful week. You are beautiful and loved! -Miss Corrie #TuesdayswithMissCorrie Happy Sunday!
I hope you all are having a good time with family and friends and taking a much needed day of rest, prayer, and reflection today on the Lord's day! Just a quick message that I have updated photos on this page now! It is nice to show the "evidence" of our adventures! Click on the "check it out" tab to see the whole slideshow! To find out more, come to our Back to School night this Thursday too! Have a great rest of your Sunday. Go Packers! :) -Miss Corrie Happy Tuesday!
This week in Extended 4k, our theme is "God is love" from 1 John 4:8. The students were able to visit church today to learn about all the images and statues. We prayed a Hail Mary by the Pieta statue and even learned about sacramentals, saints, and more! After rest time today, we will be using watercolor paints for a God is Love picture. They are excited for that! In third grade religion, we are reviewing the Trinity - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit - and learning all about the incarnation. We have chosen the three Archangels as our patron saints for the year and we look forward to celebrating their feast day together on September 29th. In after care last week we had a lot of fun with playdoh and coloring! It is so great to see everyone's creativity and artistic abilities! Also, we have been trying to take up every opportunity we can to go outside and enjoy the fall weather. Parents of after care students, do not forget to pack a snack for your child(ren) so they have extra energy to get through the rest of the afternoon! Soon I will be posting photos of all of our adventures together! If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me! Have a great week! -Miss Corrie :) #TuesdayswithMissCorrie Our theme of the week is friendship. We are learning about how to be a good friend to one another while we learn, pray, and play. Today we read a story called Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns to Listen that taught us just that!
Our Scripture verse of the week is "A friend loves at all times." (Proverbs 17:17) We are learning that having friends is a gift from God so we must love and respect them. Here is a photo from last Friday - we had fun drawing on the white board! |
