Merry Christmas, everyone! Yes, it is still the Christmas season! Currently we are in the *octave* of Christmas, which is the eight days celebrating the Nativity of our Lord. Traditionally, some will even celebrate the Christmas season until "Candlemas", the Solemnity of the Presentation of the Lord on February 2nd! Wow! (Not sure if all the real Christmas trees will last that long!) I also want to share some words of gratitude for all the Christmas gifts! Wow! Such generosity and love! I am truly blessed. Thank you! Have a great rest of your Christmas vacation and see you in the New Year! :) God bless, -Miss Corrie PS - The collage photo above contains some of my favorite Extended 4k photos from the past month. We had so much fun! Much more fun is in store in 2017! :)

Day 3 for Christmas centers in the Extended 4k classroom! Today played "Feed the Penguin", worked on puzzles, looked at books, and had two projects! We made these cute baby Jesus ornaments and we colored a picture of what we would bring baby Jesus as a gift. (The most popular answers were a blankie and a nook!)
Tomorrow is our Birthday Party for Jesus along with our Christmas centers! Much fun is in store! Thanks be to God for outdoor time today! We enjoyed climbing and playing on the snow hills! Everyone in the school signed the rules for winter recess... which includes no throwing snow, playing on ice, etc... we hope that this maintains a positive and safe environment for all as we enjoy this winter wonderland!
Extended 4k continued "Christmas Centers" today with two crafts, one game, and of course, their beloved puzzle time! This Thursday we will have a BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR JESUS! :) Party hats and all! It will be a blast! [#butfirstresttime] On Wednesday, in religion class the 3rd graders have their chapter five test with Christmas activities to follow of course! A blessed 4th week of Advent to you! -Miss Corrie This week in Extended 4k we are enjoying "Christmas centers" every day! We have jam packed afternoons of projects and games (and of course rest time!). Today we made these wonderful snowman ornaments. Thank you to a generous parent who gave the ornament kit to us! :)
More updates this week coming soon! Peace to you this Advent and always! -Miss Corrie Happy Feast of St. Lucy!
Here is my Tuesday update! Things are going well despite the winter cold! "Frost and chill, bless the Lord!" (Daniel 3) Today in Extended 4k we read a couple stories that I read when I was little, "Three Little Kittens" and "All the Little Snow Angels". They thought it was so cool! After rest time we will be making cute snowmen to hang up in the hallway with a sign that says "Jesus loves us SNOW much!"! :) Third Grade Religion class has been going great! We are cruising through chapter five and learning about the early church as found in the book of Acts in the New Testament. They are so intrigued about Christian martyrs, those who have died because of their faith. Lastly, enjoy the photos below of some of our Advent adventures! Praying, singing, playing in the snow, and more! You are beautiful and loved! -Miss Corrie #TuesdayswithMissCorrie Today is the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe! Today in both Extended 4k and 3rd grade religion class we celebrated by reading the story of Mary appearing to Juan Diego in Mexico and then making our own "tilma" (cloak/apron)! Click HERE to read the whole story. Click HERE to read the symbolism and history of the image. It is truly a miraculous image. There has been even scientific research on this image! It is unbelievable! Happy Feast day of St. Nicholas! (aka St. Nick day!)
Students were so excited to receive treats today from St. Nick! The extended 4k students and I read two new books today to help prepare for us Christmas. Our countdown says only 19 days left! Wow! We also have a stocking for Jesus in our classroom so we can draw/write notes to Jesus for His birthday (it is so cute!). Third grade Religion Class just finished a test yesterday. We are starting chapter five this week. Today we prayed a prayer to St. Nicholas at the end of class since he is the patron saint of children! Hope you are having a beautiful Advent! St. Nicholas pray for us! God bless you! -Miss Corrie #TuesdayswithMissCorrie I am a couple days late for my Tuesdays with Miss Corrie update - I apologize!
In 3rd grade religion class we are preparing for our test next week and started talking about Advent. We visited Church and wrote down our prayer intentions in the intention book. We also began to pray the Novena in Honor of the Immaculate Conception. Check it out at www.praymorenovenas.com... they send the novena prayers right to your email so you don't forget - it is so convenient! In Extended 4k this week we started decorating the classroom for Christmas, we prayed in Church, and we even learned a new song for Advent! Ask them how to spell the word "Advent" - with the new song they learned how to spell it! They should also know how many weeks are in Advent! (Four!) This week in Aftercare they have been laughing so much during games of Charades! I love hearing their joy, especially when we aren't always able to play outside during this time of year. If you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to email me at anytime. God bless your Advent journey! You are beautiful and loved! -Miss Corrie |
