In case you are wondering what that pipe cleaner thing was in your child's backpack, we made one decade Rosaries in Extended 4k and in After School Care. They are easily bended back to original shape since they are made out of pipe cleaners!
Have a great long weekend! :) -Miss Corrie

ICYMI, this month is the month of the Rosary! The Rosary is a great way to pray. We ask for Mary's help and prayers from heaven while she reminds us to "do whatever He [Jesus] tells you". All of my students are discovering more about the Rosary and Mother Mary this week. In 3rd grade Religion Class we completed a Rosary Diagram where students matched the prayers with the corresponding beads and then colored the pictures. We taped the diagrams up on the wall - photos coming soon! In Extended 4k, students are beginning to understand what a Rosary is... it is not a necklace to wear but a sacramental that we use to help us pray. We also are diving into the different ways that Mary was important in Jesus' life, especially at Jesus' first miracle at the wedding feast at Cana. They were so excited to watch a short movie about it on Monday! :) Even After Care is under the protection of Blessed Mother Mary! Students and some teachers take part in a prayer to Mary, under the title of "Mother Thrice Admirable", a devotion originating from the Schoenstatt community. It is impressive that some of the students are starting to memorize it! Lastly, did you know that during Extended 4k Rest Time we listen to relaxing/reflective music? One of the songs we listened to today while resting is called "Mandatum Novum", which means "new commandment", a Latin hymn used in the Church for Mass on Holy Thursday. The first time I heard this song was when I had to learn to sing it! I was in the choir for the entire Easter Triduum this past year for St. Norbert Abbey in De Pere and this song was one of my favorites to practice! It must have been a good selection for today's rest time too because half of the students fell asleep! (That doesn't usually happen!) Check out the song below! Prayers for all of you reading this today! May you always "do whatever He tells you"! God's love never fails and He is always with you! You are beautiful and loved! -Miss Corrie #TuesdayswithMissCorrie My favorite moment of the week so far is a 4k student asking me, "Miss Corrie, can we pray after rest time, too?" Of course we can! That is great! I am glad students are desiring to pray and become closer to God. That is the reason why we are at a Catholic school! To connect the faith with our learning! Extended 4k this week is learning about loving our family and how our family is a gift from God. Make sure to check out the song Father Abraham that we started learning today - youtube link is below! It is always good to praise the Lord as a family! Third Grade Religion class has their Chapter Two test this Thursday (the day was changed due to the field trip yesterday). Feel free to study their notecards with them! They are a helpful tool to understand key terms! In After School Care last Friday we made paper airplanes! We had a great time seeing how we can decorate them and make them fly better. We aren't able to do that all the time so it was fun to do something new. Hopefully we can take advantage of the warmer weather this week and go play outside for awhile! Parents - please do not forget to help your students pack a snack for After Care. We are unable to use the extra 4k snack food for those who forget and many of them need that extra energy and fuel to keep going! Hope you all have a great week! You are beautiful and loved! -Miss Corrie #TuesdayswithMissCorrie We are all smiles this week so far with Miss Corrie! Here are some updates!
3rd Grade Religion - We are continuing chapter two and getting ready for our test next week! There will be a fun News Reporter project coming up - be prepared for the excitement! :) Extended 4k - This week we are recognizing God's blessings in the season of fall! (FALL in love with Jesus... He never LEAVES you!) Yesterday we took a walk outside and pointed out things that God made vs what human beings made. It was a great reflection for all of us! We especially thanked God for the beautiful weather! After school care - I have been enjoying to see the interaction between the younger and older students! I try to encourage the older ones as much as possible to help develop their leadership skills. In turn, this teaches positive lessons to the younger ones! Enjoy a couple new photos! If you ever want me to email you the originals of any photos I take, feel free to contact me! Have a good week! You are beautiful and loved! -Miss Corrie #TuesdayswithMissCorrie Today is the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals! This afternoon the whole school will be outside for a Pet Blessing Prayer Service. You are welcome to come with your pet!
Third Grade Religion this week is starting the next chapter. Thursday and Monday there is extra time for MAPS testing so we will not be able to finish the chapter until next week. For the month of October, we will be praying the Memorare prayer every day in honor of the month of the Rosary, a special month dedicated to our Blessed Mother Mary. This prayer is found in their assignment notebooks if you want to pray it with them! Extended 4k theme of the week is respecting God's creation. St. Francis is known for his care for the world and animals so we thought this week would be a perfect time to talk all about it! We are learning how God created the earth, sky, water, and animals, and most importantly, created human beings with so much love! My favorite part of After Care recently is how the older students have become excellent helpers, especially to the younger students who are learning how to play new games and use new toys. It is good to see them direct their energy to helping and serving one another, being positive role models for the younger ones. Have a blessed Feast Day and week! Remember that you are beautiful and loved! -Miss Corrie #TuesdayswithMissCorrie |
