GREETINGS! We are so pumped that it is 73 degrees this afternoon! Extended 4k students and I enjoyed the weather this afternoon! After reading the Resurrection story of Jesus - in honor of the Easter season - we drew pictures with chalk on how we want to share the good news of Jesus, just like Mary did after she saw the empty tomb! This pictures are AWESOME. They each had a story with them which you can read below! Third grade religion class has a TEST TOMORROW. I promised them I would bring in a TREAT if they all get an A! They are bringing their books home tonight to study! :) Hope you are all enjoying this amazing weather! Happy Easter! (It's still Easter!) Sincerely, -Miss Corrie #TuesdayswithMissCorrie

Here are some highlights of our Easter Octave! :) Here are some great Easter questions to challenge your kids with! :)
1) How many days are in the Easter season? 2) What do we celebrate on Easter? 3) How do you spell "Easter"? 4) How to you spell "Alleluia"? 5) What does "resurrection" mean? 6) Who saw Jesus after He resurrected? 7) What do we celebrate forty days after Easter? 8) What do we celebrate fifty days after Easter? 9) Why is Easter important? 10) What is the liturgical color for the Easter season? Bonus Question: What happens to Jesus between His death/burial and His resurrection? [ Hint: Read the Apostles' Creed :) ] Happy Easter everyone!
Hope you are having an excellent Easter season so far! (There are fifty days of the Easter Season!) This Sunday is Divine Mercy Sunday also! Click HERE for a video of our 4k students reminding us of the prayer that is on every Divine Mercy image! :) In both of my main classes we are focused on the Easter Season - in 3rd grade we are also talking about the types of prayer: praise, petition, thanksgiving, and intercession. Something new in the afternoon is that we have eggs in an incubator in our classroom. The 4th graders are expecting that they will hatch into chicks within 2-3 weeks! Stay tuned for more details soon! Have a wonderful week! God bless, -Miss Corrie Good afternoon, everyone! Holy Week is here! Wow! Lent is quickly fading away and Easter Triduum begins in a couple days! This week in 3rd grade Religion class we are doing an Easter Triduum mini-project. Students are asked to write/draw out a conversation they would have with a newly baptized person. It has been a creative way for them to think about the thousands of people around the world that come into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil every year! ***Once again, I HIGHLY recommend that you try to go to ALL of the Easter Triduum services! It is the BEST part of the year!**** Yesterday, our entire school prayed the Stations of the Cross. Our Extended 4k friends were SO excited to pray with the big kids with their very own booklets. This week they are taking home those prayer booklets AND a Divine Mercy image to hang up at home. How awesome that the Church has many free prayer resources to help us pray and reflect more effectively! Below is a photo of our afternoon 4k students before going into church yesterday! They are always so excited to pray! :) REMINDERS AND RESOURCES
Have a beautiful Holy Week! God bless, -Miss Corrie #TuesdayswithMissCorrie Good afternoon everyone!
I hope you had a wonderful spring break! :) I know we did! Now that it is April we are preparing for Easter! Holy Week is next week already so we are finishing up our Lenten discussions and preparing for the most sacred and wonderful time of the year! I highly recommend going to all the Easter Triduum services as a family. Holy Thursday Mass is the commemoration of the Last Supper. Good Friday is the memorial of Jesus' suffering and death, and Holy Saturday evening/Easter Sunday is the celebration of new life and Jesus rising from the dead! My favorite part of the Easter Triduum is the Easter Vigil that occurs on the night before Easter. It is a very sensory experience! There are four main parts to it: light, water, word (Scripture), and Eucharist. It begins with darkness in the church and a fire that is lit. Then eventually it gets lighter and lighter! This holy night includes many people all over the world receiving the Sacraments for the first time and coming into the church! It's the best! Just a reminder that there is no extended 4k or after care next week Thursday April 13th, Holy Thursday. There is also no school on Easter Monday, April 17th, except for 4k students (no extended 4k). Also, next week Monday, April 10th at 2:15pm we have our last Stations of the Cross as a school. This time around our extended 4k students are able to join us! If you can, please come pray with us! Have a great week! -Miss Corrie #TuesdayswithMissCorrie Good afternoon everyone!
I hope you all are doing well on this beautiful spring day! We are joyfully journeying through Lent with our students through prayer, reading, projects, and more! Parents -- here are some great questions to review with your children! (Some are easier than others, of course, depending on age and grade level!)
As you may know, spring break is just around the corner! If you are looking for ideas for a "stay-cation", feel free to check out local shrines and events in our Diocese! The diocese website is www.gbdioc.org. If you are going out of town, a great resource is www.masstimes.org to find a Mass wherever you may be! Any vacation can turn into a pilgrimage or retreat if we keep our eyes on Jesus! Have a wonderful week and end of 3rd quarter! (wow! went so fast!) Sincerely, -Miss Corrie #TuesdayswithMissCorrie Good afternoon everyone!
Today is the Solemnity of St. Joseph! In Extended 4k today we visited Church to pray and we made paper lilies in honor of his feast day! Solemnities, even during Lent, allow us to break our fast in order to feast! :) Good afternoon everyone!
I type this while my extended 4k students are resting! (Lucky ducks!) Since it is Lent, I am having both extended 4k and 3rd grade religion class work on coloring their own Stations of the Cross prayer booklets. They will be able to bring these home soon too! It is wonderful that they are able to reflect and learn about Jesus' suffering, death, and resurrection here at school - but it is even better when they are doing that at home with family too! The 3rd graders are more familiar with the Stations since they pray it with the rest of school but the 4k students are just learning! It is wonderful to hear their questions and excitement to learn more about the Catholic faith! :) Hope you are doing well! God bless your week! -Miss Corrie #TuesdayswithMissCorrie |
